@Nunya9876 What diplomatic solutions??? All diplomatic channels were exhausted and Ukraine / West refused to negotiate or negotiated in bad faith. What danger to NATO - last time I checked NATO was aggressive alliance that does not care about sovereign states at all & uses international law for toilet paper. Most of the world does not recognize western court in the Hague as "international" and there is nothing international about it - it is about as international as a court in Moscow is or one in Beijing. Maybe NATO (US) should have stayed within its borders as well? Maybe NATO should stop constantly invading sovereign nations and overthrown governments - not that would be a bright idea. Ukraine is already part of UN no need to join. As for joining NATO it will never do that while Russia is still a country. I mean listen to yourself - a war is fought over joining NATO a "defensive" alliance ;) If it was indeed so defensive why would everyone be so scared of it ;) Also NATO is US, it is US and countries it controls.

They are loosing 10000 KIA per month - double that at least by factor of 2 for WIA that cannot return. Max mobilization potential is about 1.2m, realistic is around 1m. They are already past their peak.

Yes and this is why Donbass is fought over - for peace and harmony - without Kiev regime.
2
@edmundpasan529 Does that include Ukrainians fighting for freedom of Donbass against Kiev regime? Or is this some kind of "one way" democracy? Also Ukraine is not a democracy - they have one party, one leader with shadows and they fully do not embrace most values of UN / EU.

Well, in such war stronger will win - i.e. Russia.
2
Ukraine will never allow a referendum as they would loose all that territory.

@Manuel-gu9ls Russia needs to win, not for the future of people of Donbass, no, for the future of all people on earth - to show that freedom will prevail.

Russia cares for well being of people of Donbass or Crimea. So it does care. What about these assholes in Europe - do they care about Russian minorities? Or Serbian? Nope. Do EU grant Catalonia its freedom? Nope. What about UK - why block Scottish referendum? B/c afraid it will loose?

Backing for war is 75% few months ago and I assume its growing. Support for Putin is 90% - mostly backed by people of Russia for the war. The more west pushes the more Russian people push back. Ukraine will be strangled in between.

Nah, that honor goes to Stephan Bandera - one of the most blood thirsty humans on earth that makes Hitler look like an angel.

@EpicCrust I do not think Kurds have any good words for US - they were thrown under the bus.

@edmundpasan529 Donbass belongs to the people of Donbass. Not to Ukraine, not to Russia not to Zielinski and not to Putin. To the people that live there. Its not longer colonial times - land belongs to these that live there not to some abstract government or colonial power.

Well, Ukraine "win" is to take back all territory - which US commander said would be very, very difficult --- impossible. Russia win is to prevent NATO expansion & liberate Donbass - they are quite close to both of these. Russia can simply take few more cities and just like that they can claim a win - than if Ukraine gets 300km missiles they can move 300km to create a buffer zone.

Well, obviously Russia is winning big now - giving massive losses to Ukraine. Its atrition war - they are wearing Ukraine thin. For Russia its a war of survival as well - the war will continue until Ukraine folds or last Ukrainian dies. I point to the later. I.e. Russia will fight to the end. New Ukraine that emerges... if it emerges - I doubt that. Most likely scenario is no Ukraine.

Maybe tad tougher - they sure prepared well for a long fight. So they knew that it can be a long fight.
