  1.  @yaserfarouk  Yeah but compared to this the Soviet leaning government was loved by Afghans. Heck there is a theory that if Soviets provided them with fuel and ammo they would have won. They lasted for years not months without Soviet support.

  2. Less smart - Russians dropped the case after lest then 10 years and what they build lasted for few more. US went in for 20 and what they build lasted few weeks.

  3. So more assurances Afghan government was ready? Really? After 20 years you need more??? More of what? If they could not make it in 20 years were you waiting for say another 10? Would it make a difference? Really? As to these that served ==> you did your job. That is it. You did your job. As it is just a job. Soldiers are tools of politicians - generals frequently forget that and start becoming politicians themselves.
