  1. Well, Ukraine is inviting troops from all over the world. Why waste your own in case of Russia. Same as with Azerbaijan. Good move on Putin's side - remember that the west still claims Russia is using only about 25% of its air-force, 33% of armor and about 20% of its manpower.

  2. Putin started this thing with an off ramp. He can simply take Donbass and end this. Easy. He has whole of Lugansk already and almost all of Donieck. So give it a week and he can declare operation over - if he chooses to. No need for Ukraine to do anything. He can of course continue, and give option to Ukraine - either a) you say no NATO and recognize Crimea or b) we will create more republics down south. I think so far give relative success of the operation he is aiming for second option. I.e. either Ukraine gives in to some demands or it will say bye bye to all or most of sea access. So Putin is not exactly in a corner but he sure is playing a very hard game - hardest of his entire life!
