Maybe... b/c there was no return fire! Or return fire was into the air above them to simulate a fight!
1
Notice rear tanks engage and destroy Ukrainian light infantry. Both sides suffer losses, but Ukrainian side suffers 3x as much, at least.
1
Once they taken the "trench like" structure pre sighted Russian artillery given them some taste of defeat. Ukraine failed to take anything around Bakhmut. They are running around the gray zone.
1
It's UA tank and they are Nazi.
1
@cheebacheeo5876 I said at least one made it alive.
1
@chaosXP3RT And pigs fly ;)
1
@samuelweir5985 Sure, and what are your basis for a hit? No video of a hit! Most missiles fail to hit or fail to destroy the target. So odds are failure:95% Hit and destroy 5%. And I am being generous.
1
@MrReaxxionAction LOL, if that was true they would have had incoming fire before the shot ;)
1
@kenh6096 In this case actually its Donbass vs. Nazi. The people of the city vs. Kiev supported Nazi Azov units. So, do you support people that want to be free or you support a regime?
1
Russians need to call urgent air support to clear these Ukrainian forces for the road.
1
Lol, same as swastika is a symbol of luck. Come on. This and dozens of others are clearly Nazi.
1
What are these idiots firing at and wasting ammo? Oh wait, friendly fire ;) These guys are worse then not have any "soldiers".
1
We see similar action by the Russian side so it's not like squads have great AT ability on both sides. You simply do not have lots of weapons. Maybe they had say two RPGs and used both of them. They run out. So they retreated. Better be alive then dead. The next day they come back. In Zaporozia most of front line fight is like this. Main defensive line is behind such exposed frontal positions.
1
But none were killed as per video. None seem to be visibly wounded as well.
1
@lee.as.in.l.e.e.7394 Nah, they were happy in other videos to just mask the dead. There is nothing to prevent showing wounded soldiers on YT. Finally why would they show no troops when mortars hit - clearly they hit... no one.
1
@larsrons7937 but video claim is not confirmed by vide itself. Cleary no one is seen when mortars hit. Nobody.
1
@larsrons7937 But between 1:15 and 1:20 there is EDIT CUT. At 1:32 we have edit cut again. I.e. The event from 1:32 probably is before mortar strike. If this was "real" video they would have one continuous video or at least video from the blast - zoom in to show casualties, no? - it would take same amount of time, no? but they do not. Thus I claim no casualties. The unit withdrawn. Also your claim they were pinned by MG fire - they were behind concrete blocks - why they did not move out and others did? "Between these three parts it is technically possible that the soldiers hiding suddenly rose up despite of the machinegun fire, ran away to be out range of the explosions just about to happen, then ran back and threw themselves on the ground in awkward positions pretending to be dead. Technically. But not likely in no way realistic." "then ran back and threw themselves on the ground in awkward positions pretending to be dead. " - that was BEFORE mortars stroke or could be another unit or something entirely different - even friendly troops pretending to be dead. Also note difference in video quality between different pieces - could be even different drone. A "real" video would have one continuous roll show Russians, zoom out (or not) have a mortar blast and show after effects. Why would anyone edit 10 seconds? You are way, way, way too trustworthy.
1
@larsrons7937 No they are not. Watch the video again. Its heavily edited, and do not assume each edit is in sequence. As I already replied to someone else, in normal video you would see such things in one 10s clip "soldiers on the ground, mortar strike, dead or wounded" as one take. But here you do not see. Ask yourself why anyone would do multiple cuts in 10s or less of video ;) View it this way "clip one shows some Russian troops contacting enemy HM position & moving back". clip 2 at some other time shows mortars striking roughly same area - could be after or before clip 1. Clip 3 shows some killed or wounded troops - could be before or after 1 /2.
1
@spaceman9599 Well, we have video evidence of a lot of losses so its hard to ignore the fact that Russia does not own Bradly or 113 vehicles ;)
1
@kisuke47 Not as far as we know - if they did we would have a video about it.
1
Nah, even if tank fire did not take them out mobile infantry did.
1
@HomieusErectus what do you suggest they do? APC could be next. They dismount and drop. Later with support fire they mop up Ukrainian unit. Ukrainians paid a lot of blood for that tank.
1
@houstontexas9463 Nah, at that range I highly doubt to many went out alive. It was probably national guard / local militia. Tanks opened return fire with main guns and coaxial MGs. At that range they easily blocked escape route. Even if some managed to survive that Russians could simply drive around the other side ;) Main thing they did is a) destroy a tank b) slow Russian advance At a cost of a small armed unit. In case you don't see it, just imagine a square with roads all around. one side of the square is the road. All Russians need to do is drive around the back of the square to block any escape. If it was so easy to ambush troops and "run away" in this fashion US would have lost war in Iraq long time ago.
1
It looks like its DPR militia. Not wagner.
1
You do not see any return fire so I doubt Taliban were anywhere close. Feels like a lot of this is training.
1
Well, depends on how you look at them. Technically they are indeed, as per west, Ukrainians. Just not aligned with Kiev regime.
1
Probably grandpa left it for them from his days in the SS ;)
1
And this is why Russia is winning the war --- they have more equipment. They can attack Ukrainian defenses with these and mop defenders.
1
So these are the guys that are getting their asses kicked by the Russians!
1
Imagine that Russians already retaken most of these positions - once Bakhmut was taken there was no need for UA to hold them.
1
@notmytiming but, but they are winning. So maybe you should sit down and wait for the defeat of Ukraine? And defeat of entire west.
1
They have been using these for over a year now. No effect.
1
The latest estimates are around 4-5 dead Ukrainians for each Russian - there is no hurry on Russian side. This is standard ratio from the start of the war.
1
@maxk4471 No. Kherson is important as it keeps Odessa in firing range. Clearly Kharkiv was too big to deal with and only troops that keep UA out of range of Brdansk are there. I expect that Russia moved all troops out beyond Osirk river. We see whatever that is the case in the next few days, but so far seems that only screening force is left in the area. What propaganda?
1
Umm, these are Donbas republic troops not Russian forces.
1
Nazi were defeated before and will be defeated again.
1
They are in the forest, tanks could not do much her anyways. Russians need to call in artillery against this light infantry, cut off with fast mobile armor & destroy. This process will take time. There are lots of platoons like this to eliminate. Russians don't have enough forces in the north to do this, in the south they are doing great and finally eastern offensive started to get traction. War may still last another week or two - are at least till it will be clear Ukraine lost - once army of Donbass is trashed.
1
@HyzersGR LOL, most of attack is lead by Wagner there are no mobiks there. Paratroopers are helping. Ukies take epic losses and there are videos of them refusing to fight - not sure how authentic but certainly morale is low & losses are not sustainable for Ukraine. Only idiot would hold to a city where they are getting clapped so bad.
1
It is strange BMP did not return fire - probably did not see where it was coming from and retreated. Front and turret of BMP are actually not that bad at all - especially engine deck on BMP-1 / BMP-2.
1
@prind142 Tell it to people on WWII ;))) Who is an idiot now huh? Tell it to Iraqis - they were on the defense in last war with US - me feels they took much heavier losses.
1
@Pyriphlegeton Oh, if that is true why we see 100s of monuments to Bandera? Why we see Nazi salutes, why we see Nazi flags in Kiev - next to the president of Ukraine? Totally not Nazi. Yeah right. Support for Nazi before the war was 60-70% in west Ukraine.
1
Russian claim all were captured alive. No heroics. We see who is right, but given Ukrainian performance in Ukraine mainland it feels they all did indeed surrender, signed a letter they will not fight against Russia ever again and were let go.
1
@aardvarkbiscuit2677 Power of propaganda! Remember its huge. Most pp don't know much about this war. They think its some freely elected president fighting evil dictator. Its like Afghanistan, where they also had "freely" elected president but no one voted for him ;) And Taliban removed him in just 3 weeks. Except here there is plenty more of propaganda to defend Zielinski - logic is not with him. But remember, after its all over he will live somewhere in New York or Florida.
1
If there were Russians in the house. Looks like both sides suffered no losses and UA lost a lot of ammo. Correct action by Russian command would be to counter the UA squads now that they are low on ammo and mop them up. Counter them by pinning them & mop with artillery.
1
This is plain stupid of Ukrainians to just drive their cars while tanks are on the roads and engaging the enemy. This can happen what just did or they can be hit by cross fire.
1
This proves once and for all US is not ready for the enemy's massive drone use. At least not when ECM fails.
1
@desmond-hawkins They have a top attack mine PTKM-1R. The top attack ammunition was developed in the 80s or maybe before that. It has drawbacks & if it was so great it would be more widely adapted. In its direct attack the Javelin / Nlaw missiles are much weaker than comparable weapons that are just direct attack. I.e. its a tradeoff. Spike is the most advanced missile & it does not use the top attack mode of Javelin / Nlaw.
1
@Patron-mx4iv Price is of an issue here - Kornet is relatively cheap compared to Spike or Javelin. Like way cheaper.
1
@Nikolas37 Correct, Ukraine has lots and lots of spare gun meat - maybe they should just send them unarmed? I mean Russian artillery will kill them if armed and if unarmed - but if unarmed they can scream it was a war crime?
1
@linkharden7756 They are fighting for their home! Why you are glad - what if someone attacks you in your home? These were (or are) Donbass militia troops. Probably can see their home from the trench line.
