  1. Tesla == iPhone. They will not lower their price - same as iPhone. iPhone is a well made expensive device. Tesla is a poorly made car that happens to be very expensive. Its 2nd worst car brand in US as far as quality is concerned. Search on youtube actual reviews by people whom show actual Tesla cars. Paint job on these cars is from 1970s. Doors are unevenly attached. In a luxury car.

  2.  @DOTCurrency  That is not true - Chinese cars are slowly entering Canadian market. BYD already did. In China you have two settings AFAIK - either you go for the cheapest or the best. Almost all big car brands make their cars in China. Somehow these are not "falling apart" or have major issues.

  3. If US - China relation deteriorate Tesla in China has little chance - or shall we say none. Apple will also suffer. If relations improve or become great again Tesla is almost guaranteed a place in China as a luxury EV maker. It has little chance of breaking into budget sector, nor desire to do so.

  4.  @DOTCurrency  I would not mind BYD car - they are cheap and cannot be worse then a Tesla. I been to China and it seems all of their cars ... work. They also use different tools in China then the tools we get from China in the US. Lots of things are quite different then what is expected if one only sees Chinese in US.

  8.  @platypuss619  Ford F series are the future. Ford announced that in 2020 we will see both EV F-150 as well as F-150 Hybrid. That was few weeks ago.

  9. And Tesla is worse than almost all US made cars. Ford is light years ahead of a Tesla. Even Chrysler is better.

  11.  @beto46133  Consumer reports, a rather trusted source, tells us different story. You can buy Tesla in Utah for almost a year now.

  12.  @nzhong169  That is good for you. It doesn't change the ratings on the car. It doesn't "fix" the problems with misaligned doors nor with poor paint cover. It is simply the only (?) mass produced electric luxury car brand - so there is nothing else one can get in that category.

  15.  @HandsomeRabbit8  Given that most of US brands are already made in China I doubt that Chevy from China is significantly worse then Chevy in US - after all Chinese are just as capable workers as Americans. The question is of price - I am sure Chinese brands can do better job then Tesla for much higher price then today but less then Tesla - simply b/c they have experience in making cars - something Tesla has not. Case in point is US made Tesla which ranks as one of the least reliable car manufacturers on US market. None of their models are recommended due to extremely low quality. Lexus is #1, Toyota #2 out of around 30.

  16.  @franklinz8098  Ummm all prices of Tesla vehicles recently went up 5%. Their sales in US cratered 37% and they have record loss of 710m. So I don't see him exactly expanding market in US. Jobs had revolutionary products that keep on coming. They were overpriced but of excellent quality. He may have been pompous in his announcements but he delivered! Musk doesn't do as well in any department here.

  19. Competition in China is very fierce. If you re-badge Tesla and sold it as Bobo it would have exactly 0 chance of making it.

  20. Tesla is second worst brand in the US as far as quality goes. At least iPhone is a well made phone. Almost any car & Truck made in the US today is better made then a Tesla.

  21. Tesla main appeal is that of an iPhone - its an expensive gadget that says "I am rich". If that wears out they have no chance in China. Also any major spat such as more tariffs mean flat sales for both Tesla and iPhone. One can see warnings from Apple blaming "slowing down" economy in China for its profit drop - its not "economy" - its sentiment. Tesla has nothing other then a name - iTesla. If you re-badge Tesla with something else its a dud - too expensive and poorly made - in US the brand quality by consumer reports is rated second to last - far behind such "quality" vehicles as Chrysler.

  22. Nissan with its leaf is miles ahead of Tesla in quality of manufacturing. I would venture every other EV maker is ahead of Tesla in quality - unless Lincoln starts making EVs. Cadillac may be even with Tesla. $35k car doesn't exist - average price out the door of Tesla Model 3 is around $60k. Long term savings for average ICE car in average part of the US for average distance driven is around $650 per year in fuel. Can add few hundred USD for maintenance - so less than $1000. This is for charging at home. If charging at a charge station the saving in fuel are less then $200.
