Ukraine has no more strength left to do even mid size counter attack. Ukraine took massive losses and casualties. Many brigades are now battalion sized. They have 100k of "volksturm" - they may throw that into the grinder. And then this is it.

Once Donbass is taken and Ukraine still wants to fight they move in and take Zaporoze and Dnipro. There is not much left in Ukraine resistance capability once Donbass is taken. There are no expectations of guerrilla welfare even from super pro Ukraine Poles. Minor objective almost taken, give it 10 days. Max objective is whole right hand side of Dniper and probably south (including Odessa).

@tylerw6438 At current rate it will be a miracle if Donbass front does not collapse, at least partially, by May 9th. If all continues like now Ukraine will be totally lost in 10 days or so. I suggest they should surrender now, while they still have some negotiation power.

God no!. Russia is creaming Ukrainians. For past week they are moving every day forward. Remember during WWII it took like 6 months or more to take right hand side of Dniper. And now you are expecting tiny Russian force to do it in 6 days. Relax, they are moving, taking land, give it time. By May 9th they need to have Ukrainians in Donbass at least partially surrounded.

@frosten5746 I am telling you 100%. There will be TWO winners no matter what. Putin will get all or most of what he wants. Ukraine will also be declared a winner b/c "Putin wanted more". Remember that, two winners. No matter what.

@meetmehalfway7982 Nah, no one in Russia is worried. Ukraine has 100k now ready to send to the front. I doubt they would make a big deal of a difference. Probably stop Russians for few weeks and that is it. Then move will restart (i.e. most of the 100k would be dead or unable to fight). How many 100k troops like this will Ukraine sacrifice?

@The blue Guy This is simple math. There are 100 Russians. There are 200 Ukrainians. Russians are pushing. What are the losses - to keep things "stable" they are 1:2. Otherwise ratio would change and dynamics would change. Ukrainians started with same # of tanks and similar numbers of equipment but lost a lot of it. Ukraine is now loosing the war badly. Their losses cannot be accounted for by replacements. I.e. the ratio is getting more and more in Russian favor. Ukraine started the war with about 300k. They mobilized. They must have now more troops. But so what, their best brigades are no battalions. They cannot counter as they cannot counter with some "people's army" armed with AK47s and NLAWs or Javelins. Losses would be like 10:1.

@jiayangshao4736 Nope. Russia will make border on the river. Ukraine can attack and take their 10x casualties. Not sure I would call that "war" just banging your head on a wall. So yeah, for someone in US war may continue. I just congratulate Russia on victory as I do not consider banging head on wall a war strategy.

@_rakshas_ Not really - most of the best units are not in the cities - see Izium front and area where more then 50% of Ukrainian army is. Cities have national guard light infantry as they can fight there better. But sticking to cities only means slow defeat.

@JakubWojciechowski933 Not really - Russia captured area and is holding and expanding. Sure its inching by few km per day - but its relentless. There is not stopping it. Ukraine can capture then loose few villages on other fronts - like Kherson - there its stagnant. But not in Donbass were Russians are slowly grinding Ukrainians away.

@vaskarghosh8543 They taken Rubizne few days ago and Popasna as well. Not sure about other one. I think like 98%of lugansk is taken, maybe 100%. about 60% of Donetsk. Count 3km per day and see how much they gain in 10 days. Unless UA defenses collapse before then - which is likely.
1
@JakubWojciechowski933 they are advancing. Ukraine cannot stop them. And what do you mean, no profit, war is huge profit. Yes, Ukraine may have morale issue. I mean they are being pushed by tiny Russian force. Either Russians are super human or Ukrainians are weak.

@JakubWojciechowski933 Do you think all these companies that moved out will just gift stuff to Russia or will they sell assets at maybe 5%? That is huge money making opportunity right here - some US companies due to sanctions lost tens of billions of USD! This loss is someone's gain. I.e. whole Asia is salivating to buy this stuff. This is why Marcon did not want French companies to move out of Russia. Russia has no issue making new tanks. These do not contain any components that are west dependent. Same with upgrades to existing tanks. Russia has now deployed just 92 BTGs. At no point Russian force numbered much more then 100k. Russia can simply add more troops, either through placing more conscripts in the far east or through partial mobilization. Clearly so far Russia is fine with inching in the south east. Russian morale must be very high or they use magic - how else do you explain huge Ukrainian force, tiny Russian force and Russians still attacking? Well?
1
@JakubWojciechowski933 They have lost single village that was on a front line on a front that is currently not important. They cannot have low morale as they are attacking despite being out numbered and pushing the enemy off.
1
@vaskarghosh8543 Even super western leaning maps have these in Russian control. I.e. confirmed by Ukraine. There is little "blitzkreig" in modern war. Russia tried it during first three days and run into a lot of issues for little gain. Of course by 9th whole giant army group of Donbass will not be destroyed. But they should be in far worse shape then today.

@JakubWojciechowski933 Why US is using M1 still? Why Germany takes decades to develop Leo 3? Why such high expectation of Russia yet so low of the west? How many Leo 2PL were made in Poland? Well? Years passed.... how many did they upgrade? What about that patrol ship - I mean failed corvette - how long did it take to put hull together - 10 years? But if it took Russia 6 months you would complain they are slow and total loosers. This refers to T-14. They made a short run. Realized tank may need more upgrades, more refinement and its cost above 8m USD is high. So its in short rate production. I mean they can upgrade 4 T-72s for price of one T-14. At least. Sanctions as you can see do nothing much - Russia has around 86% of the planet that did not sanction them. So I doubt that 14% you talk about is such a big deal. We no longer live in western dominated world. They tried quick capture, they did capture a lot, but nothing of huge value. So they moved back. Now they are trying grinder and it works. Since it works they continue with it. War of attrition is fine for the Russians - they love it. It was not Russians looting - at least not on any video I saw, it was DPR / LPR and I also hear about some Chechen looting. If your low morale was true, no magic, low numbers, then either a) morale on Ukrainian side is uber low b) Ukraine has no equipment left c) your assumption is false. Pick one or any combination of the 3. Ukraine already stated they will continue the fight after loosing Donbass - so they admit they will loose it.

@Mattie11 I am very good at math - have grad degree in it. This means I have righter open mind that is able to think outside of the box.
