@kevinw8593 So what? Even if they capture 1000 sq km so what? They cannot hold it and can be cut off or bled dry. Napoleon even captured Moscow.
115
Why? During battle of the bulge much stronger allies were pushed off creating a bulge. Yet allies totally won the battle.

Kiev is just too weak. They lost the war. They cannot turn things around. They cannot even slow down the Russians much.
13
Offensive of last resort was last summer. Now any offensive is a joke as everyone knows Ukraine is empty. So any gains such offensive were to make are temporary and will not have much effect on Russian negotiating position.
9
@kevinw8593 Territory needs to have purpose to further your aims. Otherwise ... it does not matter at all. For example, during WWII France wanted to help its allay Poland and took about 30km belt of German land. That is 1000s of sq km! So what? This land had no value at all to France, Poland nor Germany. It did not advance any war aims. Germany took it back in November 1939. Same her - say Ukraine advances 30km deep into Russia - captures 10 villages, maybe a town. What is the aim military of this action? Feels aim is same as that of France inn 1939.

Actually no. ERA such as k5 and above reduces 99% of impact of a single charge HEAT which is the main attack warhead. So ERA is very effective, turns HEAT into paint scratch. But it cannot protect areas such as the engine deck or turret top etc. The turtle sheets obfuscate the tank and make it impossible to attack areas that are weak, such as the engine deck or turret ring.

Let's not buy too much into Danish hype. The article is a form of propaganda to enable greater military spending. Reds are coming, need to spend!
6
But new admin will take till Janurary (!) end of. It is unlikely Ukraine will be able to last that long.
6
Eventually, we don't know when due to UA high priority to stay there.
6
It is easy to see that Russians won the game of chicken. Ukraine doubling down on the failed Kursk incursion is plain stupidity. Russians in Kursk have lots and lots of land where Ukraine can move in while the same cannot be said of Ukraine. Also over the past ten days Russia has captured far more land than Ukraine did.
6
Notice that in Korean scenario you mentioned NATO had huge numerical advantage. This is not the case for Ukraine. Opening up new fronts is not good for Ukraine. Opening up new non strategic fronts is plain suicide.
4
Ukrainians cannot make a turtle tank because all their welders are in the infantry.
3
Maybe not flowless, they made mistakes, but quite good
3
Yeah and there is huge movement in Canada to avoid anything and everything made in the US. Trade will collapse.
3
So per month we see about 1000 sq km advance!
3
So why so quiet all of the sudden? Weather? Talks?
3
If something is dumb to do expect Ukraine to do it. Troops on UA border sure are not working but its not like Russia does not have troops there. Moreover Russia can use extra troops such as conscripts or even national defense. So this does not stretch Russia as mich as it does Ukraine. Its a desperate PR move to show twitter brigade that Ukraine is doing well.
3
First
3
Nazi Germany did. Did not work out well for them. They did have a plan through, a bit optimistic but they did. Ukraine clearly has no plan.
3
Problem for the Russians is that a lot of their moves are predictable now. They need to make moves that are not predictable to gain momentum.
3
By your account no one should have won WWI.
2
This is not out of the question. Europe may turn to China. This is what Canada is looking at as a solution.
2
Trump vs. Bismarck... So WWIII?
2
@againsttheleftandright4065 Umm, France was not exactly an empire in 1939 & it folded to Germany in just over a month.
2
@Donello As memory serves Napoleon III was not exactly even 10% of the "I". What I meant by empire is not someone calling themselves an empire & one in name only but an "empire" as a meaning of "powerful". I mean Brazil was hardly ever uber powerful nation on par with say Roman empire. Yes, I gather its a grouping of countries ruled by an emperor - BUT it has "powerful sovereign or government". France in WWII put about as much of a fight as Poland did - a country that only regained its independence after WWI. Maybe keyword "colonial" is of importance.
2
Front is almost not moving.
2
@arostwocents Sure, but where will you go in Russia? Now you have "Russian" problem of fighting away from your supply lines. You have to take on enemy fortifications. You have more expanded front line... There just does not seem to be any "aim" of this but plain desperation - you take lots of Russian land and ask to negotiate? What if Russia says no?
2
Ukraine has a strategy - strategy of defeat.
2
Possibly. He did note that all updates are based on just geo location of sighted troops.
2
Note that no news from the front and all info is just geo located sightings.
2
You just cannot fix stupid.
1
I don't think Turkey will support these terrorists....
1
Yeah but where will Ukraine get 200k troops?! They need to lower the age.
1
Poland is at just under 5%
1
@Donello True, but certainly was no longer considered an empire - colonial power, yes. But empire is associated with... the emperor. That would be over 100 years before WWII.
1
It is total PR. What is the objective here? To hold a bit part of Russia? What for? There is no military purpose. Russia does not need to move forces from Kharkov as it has vast reserves - not to mention it can use conscripts here as it is Russia proper. Ukrainians are doing Russian bidding - they are ... stretching themselves for them ;)
1
Even if western troops enter, so what, Russia may get others to enter as well and now what?
1
The PR move was political. No sane military dude would do this. UA cannot afford to waste people and equipment... then again, 300 more people will not win the war or even slow down Russians.
1
As for Kursk it is clear Zielinski is making stuff up. Ukraine could not afford such operation as it is now clear seeing collapse of Donbass.
1
I dont see europe easy bending to the US. I see them challenging the US. I dont see this as good for the US. Canada where i live is actively looking at defecting from US and buy weapons to defend against US.
1
Why would russia negotiate when thry won the war?
1
Ok you are dead wrong on your theory. The US claim of illegal immigration and drugs from Canada is a joke. It is a cover. Same as suppose Polish attack on radio station in Germany to trigger a war. US aim is not this at all. We fear the aim is more of German takeover of Austria. Trump is preparing for WWIII.
1
Lets say its an offensive.... what is the aim? They capture lots of land - say 300 sq km - so what? They have no man power to hold this land, can be cut off or attacked from the sides. They are stretching the front... But that is for Russia to gain... Seems PR stunt - either big or small.
1
Sure, Ukraine and Russia will make a deal on their own 😂
1
UA is weak so the US can kick!
1
@col0342 Depends what 100 sq km - maybe they will not prevent any expansion and welcome it - as it means more Ukrainians will enter Russia.
1
3rd battle of Izium!
1
This feels like a last dash effort before peace talks. Without US support they run out of ammo and equipment faster. So this is a super risky move. They hope they can turn off the war at a moment with their advantage. If they cannot then Russians will go to Dnieper.
1
We need to send JT to Chian, je knows po there anyways. Go on tour of whole Asia. We need lots of help.
