  1. I’m 80 years old now and the only time I remember seeing black people in my secondary school was in 1959. Before that, there were none at all. This was a comprehensive school and very near Brixton where many came to live. From then (1959) on, more and more West Indians came to live there. Before this, there was only one black Nigerian girl in our class and her parents had high powered jobs in the government.
