@joeshmoe7899 not true, Colorado did not "vote to join" the US, as there was no existing government there, no organized bureaucracy of any kind to facilitate such action, just the scattered remnants of some Spanish and French settler claims, and the indigenous tribes which fought each other more violently than anywhere in North America. I grew up in the region and know the history well. Hawaii was a dictatorial monarchy that was overthrown by its own angry people with US help, lending a half-truth to your claim, but Colorado wasn't in anyway able to speak with one voice, if asked a question..

@joeshmoe7899 you are conflating "territory" with statehood, and the people of Colorado with the town of Denver.. Buchanan annexed the territory to prevent mining interests from benefitting the Confederacy, though few there supported the southern states. My family had a failed mine in Idaho Springs at the time, so trying to explain its history to me is also.. illogical. 🍯😸🍻

For the 6th time, only one state has it written in their articles of statehood, the option to leave the Union.. The Republic of Texas, so named to distinguish this, implicitly.. Should we talk of Commonwealth states now, or whatever other minutiae you may cling to hoping to justify the ambitions of ruthless dictators half a world away?
