Electoral college, whatever issues it has, balances the 5 big cities against the rights of all the smaller ones, and the farmers that feed them.. popular vote means 5 regions competing with each other instead of a unified nation, enough anyway to defeat global enemies playing you against each other, anyways.. peace and much thanks
