@rogermouton2273 ..
1. EV batteries are still the main cost of the vehicle, and as such need separate purchase/financing agreements.
2. I’ve yet to see an EV battery that can still hold 80% charge after 600 cycles (approx 3 years service) - that’s why they have separate finance. Maybe Tesla can do better, but is Tesla aiming to supply ALL the EV cars to the world market? I bet they can’t deliver that number.
3. I’m referring to the infrastructure in the UK, where it is woefully inadequate.
4. You can get a full charge in 30-40 mins IF you are NOT sharing a group of charging stations at the same location. The more vehicles using the same group of stations, the longer the charging time. You can charge overnight, of course, from your home 220v supply - a full charge in 12 hours.
Imagine how many cables would be draped through open windows and across sidewalks into the street for those who have more modest homes (especially in the UK). Imagine how many law suits would be generated by pedestrians tripping over all these cables., and the number of reports of ‘theft of electricity’ from people swapping cables.
In a world where electricity prices are going through the roof, who can afford that?
The batteries can be recycled, but the chemical elements needed for their production will be in very high demand and will lead to new wars over these resources - In African countries, no doubt. New futile foreign wars. Great!
No. Purely EV cars are NOT green and they are not the answer. Hybrids - yes. EV - no.
