  2. The thing I don’t get with subs is why they don’t have escape pods that are attached to the outer skin of the sub and connected by a watertight tube / airlock. In the even of an emergency the crew can climb into the pod nearest to their location shut the door press a button that would blow some explosive bolts and the pod would detach from the sub .... it would shoot to the surface but it would give the subs crew a perfect means of escape.
