So victims have to prove the criminal meant them personal harm or death. But the criminal never has to prove they didn't have the intent to actually hurt or kill their victims? They say it's just property, but those same people are either rich enough to afford to replace the possessions or never been a victim and faced financial ruin that threatened them or their family's lives for years or decades. Insurance falls way short of covering damage or losses from criminal activity.

johnscott9180 it's true that a fleeing criminal is no longer a threat, but unfortunately the courts don't care about the life long damage already done nor the future victims.

When one knowingly, purposefully, and intentionally commit a crime there should be no forgiveness.

johnscott9180 That's not entirely true depending on what city or state you're in, so that's the complicated part. Also it gets complicated where the exact same criminal situation will be scrutinized differently if the victim is a 100lb 70 year old woman or a 30 year old 250 lb weight lifter who does martial arts daily. Just because you dummied it down for yourself doesn't mean the lawyers and judges do.
