  1. I would say more size can help, but personally I think for health reasons people should dock their laptops at a desk when at home and work with some adjustable monitors too.

  2. Doing machine learning on a laptop seems like insanity to me. It's like buying a Ferrari because you want to tow a herd of elephants. Aaron is right, there are cheap GPUs on the cloud people can rent for their ML projects. It's can be a much more cost effective way to go, plus it won't stress what I am guessing is going to be a multi-purpose machine to the max constantly.
