Imagine I flip a coin and it lands on the table, and I asked you what is it. It's either going to be heads or tails. That's classic computing. It's one or the other. A zero or a one. Imagine I flip a coin again, and ask you what it is, but this time the coin is still flipping round in the air.... at any one time it is both heads and tails as it moves. That's quantum computing.

TL;DR: Imagine I flip a coin and it lands on the table, and I asked you what is it. It's either going to be heads or tails. That's classic computing. It's one or the other. A zero or a one. Imagine I flip a coin again, and ask you what it is, but this time the coin is still flipping round in the air.... at any one time it is both heads and tails as it moves. That's quantum computing.

@kevint1910 It's explaining to people who have no clue about CS, it's a simple analogy. The fact it upsets you is too bad really, that's your problem. Not mine.

@Bellapupper Sort of, but it's in flux and in your analogy it denotes a fixed position.

@minibuns5397 I wouldn't waste your time. He cried about an explanation not being of sufficent intellectual rigour despite the fact it was clearly aimed at people from a non-CS background, then didn't come up with any better high-level explanation. Then ranted and made a bunch of spelling mistakes. Any reasonable person can see what "Kev" has added to this discussion.

@helsharidy123 What's a bad analogy? Analog and Digital isn't a great comparison. For starters it's common for digital data for certain comms devices to still get translated in to analog as a final step of transmission. And we haven't even talked about CVQC which is considered "analog". Even at that, my original analogy wouldn't contradict analog vs digital comparator. Unless you want to explain, in detail, how that is incorrect.
