@SWIFTzTrigger Seems to be a case of low impulse control. He also possibly believed his own hype and thought he was now "the man" in the HW division, and the big paydays would keep coming. He'll be lucky to get even a low 7 figure payday for the rest of his career.

Look back at the predictions Joe and Schaub made before the rematch: Schaub knew (as I suspect a lot of pundits did) that Andy Ruiz was badly out of shape. They were talking about Ruiz (then the champ) as being this massive underdog. The bookies gave Ruiz terrible odds too. Looking back, everyone with an inside track likely knew how bad of a shape Ruiz was in for the rematch.

There's no such thing as a "lucky punch". Ruiz meant to throw it as he was setting up the right hand. He caught AJ fair and square. AJ has been knocked down (almost out) by Wlad, and wobbled by Takam and Povetkin. He's been dropped and stopped as an amateur too.

The same AJ the was getting thoroughly outboxed by a 38 year old Alexander Povetkin until Povetkin's stamina gave up the ghost? I like AJ, but he's not some masterful boxer. He does some things really, really well, and some things he still does horribly (e.g. his head movement is almost non-existent, sticks his chin out too much after throwing certain shots). That's what makes him exciting to watch.

@hughmunghus1180 It's not him I'm worried about...it's the 130 (at time of writing) other casuals who liked the comment which is depressing. People who watch boxing seem to be 90% casuals vs 10% boxing fans these days.

@amishaggerty Seems to be a classic case of low impulse control. His parents seem smart so they will hopefully keep some money for him.

moz_boxing I sort of agree with you. Finesse is not a word I would use to describe AJ's boxing. He did show great footwork and stamina to stay out of range, but on the inside, on the occasions it went inside, his head movement was non-existent. Fair play to the guy though, he seems to have figured out his strengths and the fighter who keeps the fight in the areas he's strongest usually wins. But he doesn't have the boxing skill of some of the great HWs.

Am also guessing the OP is the kind of person who believes Adonis Creed should get a shot at the winner of Andy Joshua vs Andy Ruiz.

If Ruiz loses in his next 2-3 fights, he's done as a contender. He's already lost to Parker (okay it was a close fight but neither of them looked that great to be honest) and got decimated by AJ for 12 rounds. He might go full Buster Douglas and not ever recover from this.

Not the sparring videos which still seem to be private, but here Wilder addresses it. To me it was an admission by omission; he only claims Wlad didn't drop him with a body shot, but never denies that Wlad dropped him/knocked him out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKMHB7IKPPk You also have to remember Wilder was a pro for almost 7 years before he had his first world title shot. That's an insane amount of time for a prospect to get a title fight. Why? Because for most of his pro career the Klitschko brothers owned the belts. No way he was getting in there with them. His career would've been over before it started; we'd be talking about him the same way we talk about Dominic Breazeale.
