Did it ever occur to Bruce Lee fans that what was being depicted wasn't the actual man Bruce Lee, but this absurd caricature that Bruce Lee fans have created over the years? That the arrogance displayed by the character is the arrogance that comes from many Bruce Lee fans, who claim Bruce did or could do absurd things (Like beat Muhammad Ali or Royce Gracie on the same night, or take out gangs of armed criminals)? That the lack of intelligence is a representation of the lack of coherent intelligence displayed by narratives and frankly fan fiction created by Bruce Lee fans? For me it was a depiction of the absurd caricature Bruce Lee fans have created, and it was a critique of hero worship and the Halo effect. I've said this many times before: Bruce Lee seemed like an overall good guy and was great in so many ways. Most of his fans though are irrational, childish, hero-worshipping fan fiction writing fan boys who've probably never done any sort of martial art or combat sport, but still feel qualified to tell the rest of us about why Bruce was the ultimate fighting machine while dismissing proven fighters (like Ali and Royce).

Chuck was best friends with Bruce and Chuck is a really humble guy. Bruce also gave Chuck his movie career. He's not exactly an unbiased source. What's he going to say "Yeah, that guy who was my really good friend and got me a break in movies which changed my life forever? He was pretty overrated.". Look, if people want to believe Bruce Lee was the baddest man alive with little credible, unbiased evidence then fair enough. Just don't get pissy when the rest of us are a bit more sceptical.
