Be safe my fellow Florida fam. Edit: wow thanks for all the likes! 4 leading causes of death/injury in hurricanes in the USA are: storm surge/flooding, carbon monoxide poisoning from power generators, electrocution in the aftermath, and lack of meds. So to virtually guarantee your survival: 1) Don't go to the beach or into the ocean before or after the hurricane, and evacuate if you're in a zone. 2) Don't run gas generators in confined spaces. 3) Don't go anywhere near downed power lines. 4) Have your meds. God bless you, everyone!

@spikea.3547 Yeah the fear in the media is really prominent. I stayed for Matthew and Irma as well even when most of my friends left the state (I'm not in a evac zone) and news anchors literally broadcasted: "If you stay, you're going to die!" ...like wtf yo that's not really very encouraging to the families that are watching in other parts of the country. My parents are really worried about me, and that's because they haven't been through a hurricane and because the media hypes it up. I'm really prepared. I've go this! The side affects of the fear is that the stores have been out of water near me since WEDNESDAY. A full week before the hurricane is here. Everyone FREAKS out and buys 100 gallons of water like the Apocalypse is here, and now the stores have to ration the rest, and all the gas stations are out of gas while the storm is literally 72 hours away. Anxiety is not healthy. A lot of people are worried. We just need to make good choices, prepare ourselves, and keep on pray'n!

@joselynsebastian5302 Like Taylor Roberts said to Aaliyah Burfied, try to stay with someone who has a) been through a hurricane before or b) is more experienced in life and emergencies in general. And follow my 4 tips in my main comment. The gov usually sends relief and businesses ship more supplies from other states during this time like gas and water, and resources are pulled to make recovery as fast as reasonably possible. Feel free to let me know how you're doing afterwards!
