@Stefan Urban "Because he ate him, canibalism is still punishable by the britisch gouvernment by death." No, that was just speculation by the family.

@MegaCakeFan Also, there'd have to be some evidence of the alleged cannibalism. I doubt there is any.

@syndicatejr3037 Haha. Reasonable solution.

Popularity contest? Science works by consensus in that experiments need to be repeatable so they can be tested by other scientists. It seems 97/100 of them are getting the same answer.
52
"So yeah, good luck with that down there." LOL

The pollution we make traps infrared light in the atmosphere, energy which heats of the atmosphere and traps more infrared light.

+Xpenguin17revived are you saying that you don't believe that science could be used to inform governmental policy?

+Tanmay Agrawal it's all good.

That argument is unfortunately, invalid - because the people that go to Mars and the people responsible for sending them to Mars don't bare the entire responsibility of taking care of the Earth; that cause is a group project :)

Lmao I need to move away sometime in the next 5000 yrs.

That would be inconvenient.

+tTanmay Agrawal but gacliers aren't that dense. Glaciers are less dense than water. Water is 1000 kg/cubic meter, but glaciers top out at about 917 kg/cubic meter. So if you're trying to call him stupid by telling him he's "dense", you might be actually be saying he's pretty smart because ice isn't very dense. http://www.iceandclimate.nbi.ku.dk/research/flowofice/densification/

+Tanmay Agrawal Water is a great reference for a lot of things, and we use it as a basis for many measurements. For instance, a calorie is energy needed to raise the temp of water by 1 degree Celsius. Water is really prevalent and pretty consistent when at controlled temperatures, so it makes sense why some properties of water were used as a standard to define some measurements in the SI system, such as the Kelvin scale. In general, it's a reliable point of reference for many applications.

GoldenTV3 "The Industrial Revolution and it's consequences have been a disaster to the human race." What? Yes, the Industrial Revolution has extended life-expectancy of advanced countries (along with the medical revolution and the technology revolution). AND the citizens of advanced countries like U.S. spend untold amount of $$$ and time trying to help the development of 3rd world counties so that their living conditions and education improve as well. Society has never been extremely stable. Look at the warring czars, or the medieval times, or the greeks and their state battles, or the Persians, or the Egyptians and the multitude of ancient kings in the middle east, and the list goes on and on. The last 70 years have been some of the most peaceful times in human history. You speculate a lot.

You can swim 15 miles without training in rough waters while the ocean is carrying you further out to sea?
1
Sounds like a fantastic idea.

It's 25,000 mph. And, you don't need to take it by faith, you can actually do the math yourself if you're at the college physics 2 and calculus 2 level. It's a super fun problem you can do, and you can prove it to yourself that's the speed you need to escape Earth's gravity initially.

I don't blame the little girl for abandoning him. I would run away too if I saw a hissing desert skeleton running at me.

Okay 5 minutes but after the first bite you'll stop swimming because of the pain and then in 10-30 seconds you'll go into shock and then pass out and then it's all over.

LOL

@BrandyHein LOL.

edge21str I wouln't consider Venus a feasible option. You're even more susceptible to solar flares on Venus, and the only way to survive would be in the upper atmosphere on balloon-type citadels. Not fun.

You would die, too...
