  1. Medical bills are a scam. I had private health insurance because it was a requirement for my college. I got sick in between semesters so they didn't cover by medical expenses. It was $2,000. They mailed me the fist bill and I paid it on time. They never mailed next bill so I called about 45 days after I paid the first bill and asked why they hadn't sent the next bill. They said they had the wrong address on record... how? and how would they know if they did or didn't? They also said failed to pay and that they already sent my balance to collections. Wtf. Then I had to pay collections for the next 1.5 years. Thanks United Healthcare. I probably could've paid out of pocket at like $200 if I knew any better.
