I think there is a troll in the comments. Certain personalities are targeted by pathological people and it’s not that it’s codependency. There is research to support this. It is never your fault when someone is abusive . In any relationship role . The blame is always with the bully/ abuser / narcissist. People usually know when they are being abused . If you are lucky/ unlucky enough to have the kind of personality that toxic people go after - you’re going to have to learn about what traits are targeted and safeguard those in interactions with potentially toxic people. It’s not true this suggestion that if you spot narcissism you are the person who actually has it. Most people research this after much abuse and confusion. I don’t think we should always think someone is projecting. Ask questions. That’s how you might know it’s not projecting. And I say lucky because of you get targeted it’s because you have beautiful traits in your personality that work out well in relationships to healthy people.
