Conduct disorder is what children are diagnosed as. Aspd is only diagnosed after 18 and requires that the individuals had certain behaviors before the age of 15 to be diagnosed.

So at 47:00 she says narcissism stems from deep wounding .she doesn’t specifically say NPD but I’m going to assume she meant the diagnosis . ALL personality disorders have a genetic foundation these are heritable conditions that run in families and trauma is not necessary for the diagnosis. Personality is innate - people are born with a temperament and particular traits- including narcissism - trauma does not cause cluster B disorders. This is research available to clinicians.

All personality disorders have a genetic foundation. I’m not sure why my words are crossed out above. PD’s are heritable and run in families. I’m going to explain somewhat why it’s concerning to hear this on social media. Narcissism does not come from trauma. Narcissists are NOT owed empathy but their victims are . Just like all victims of cluster B disordered people. People who get trapped in relationships with narcissists and psychopath whether it’s a friend , family, or partner. Have their lives ruined by these people. They have to learn to turn down and sometimes off their empathy in order to escape. By continuing to tell people that these people are wounded. It gives the impression they will just get treatment for their trauma and you could have a reciprocal relationship with them. That’s not the case . They are shown to get worse in treatment. And trauma is not the cause. Numerous studies show that narcissism and psychopathy is linked to aggression and bullying. There is a very poor prognosis for both narcissism and psychopathy . It is essentially dangerous to suggest you can have a safe relationship with anyone like this. These interviews seem to be pushing an idea that sociopaths live among us and that they can live happily enriched lives - most of the time this isn’t going to be the truth and it’s best to keep a safe distance from them.

Yeah - there didn’t use to be a sociopath diagnosis.
