Nice one! No wonder the Romans were so aggressive on the world stage - they were constantly struggling with everyone around them. Throwing out the last king was just the beginning. The conquest of the Latin League, the sacking of Rome by the Gauls, the fight against the Samnites and then Magna Grecia, Pyrrhus, the Carthaginians, Hannibal, and then the path to Sulla, Julius Caesar, Mark Anthony, Augustus - civil wars - whew out of breath.

If western Christendom was overrun by the Arabs in the 8th -9th century or by the Mongol in the 12 - 13th then Ethiopia might have been the last refuge of the religion

Your animations rock! Wish I had your skill when it comes to these medieval warriors

There was a colony of Christians that settled in Ethiopia - they created churches built like crosses directly into the ground. Had the Mongols taken over Europe - or the Arabs taken Constantinople and moved on to take out the rest of Europe - this tiny bastion would have been the only remaining free Christinian community left.

As Pyrrhus left Sicily for the last time, he turned back and said, “ what’s field we have left for the Romans and the Cathaginians!” - as a tear came to his eye.

By the time of reconquista - which was well until the late 11th and early 12th century (4-500 years later), Europe had changed dramatically. The descendants of many of the Germanic tribes had taken up residence in England, France, Germany etc and had adopted Christianity. The Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne, the Crusades were all galvanizing forces that united western Christendom. Then you had the more belligerent popes like Urban II and Innocent III that fully endorsed armed pilgrimages.

Have you ever done a video just on Islamic Spain? I'm doing this subject now and think you'd be great at it as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZgA_WLxkzk&t=96s

Awesome - I'm glad you liked it . This is such an awesome time period. When you were in Spain - did you go to Córdoba or Granada?

my family and I used to live in Miami when all this was going on. You'd see people with insane money walking around. You have to guess that some of this was laundered drug money making its way into the system.

I wrote ‘if’ implying a what if scenario - learn how to read lmao

Depends on your interpretation of what a civilization is. The Iberian Peninsula was inhabited back to Paleolithic times
