  3. I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and don’t recall mass shootings. Americans have always owned firearms since it’s inception but you are correct that the dynamics have changed. Mental health mandated coverage yet mental illness seems to increase, not decrease. Maybe the providers aren’t helpful, maybe medications aren’t effective or maybe people don’t take responsibility for their own decisions. There are valid mental health issues but when have we become a society that nobody can function without their pet by their side? I’m tired of dealing with untrained dogs being passed as trained emotional support animals and I currently own 4 dogs. My neighbor’s adult son came to visit with a support animal and the mom walked by with the unleashed dog who wandered up to me and down my driveway as I stood watching it but didn’t comment. The son graduated from the Naval Academy and played on the football team. Afterwards, he was a drill instructor in order to pay back his time. My son spent all but 18 months overseas or in war zones and was FOB’s and in special forces. I saw PTSD symptoms and when he separated, the military diagnosed him with PTSD. The neighbor’s son never left US soil so apparently playing football and teaching is now traumatizing. It’s becoming so common that people can’t handle normal stress and get through daily life, like my neighbor’s son who works for a financial institution. It’s disrespectful to those who have truly suffered from major trauma considered the same as someone having a staff member speak rudely to them.
