Bret, Bret, Bret, we abandoned solutions that worked for thousands of years, your own abandoned tradition worked for nearly 4000 years and was supplanted by one that worked better without throwing away what worked. An no, slavery was never an approved part of either tradition, at least not beyond 7 years. The Civil war was Christianity enforcing the only proper solution to that problem without throwing itself away. The Anglicanism of Christianity resulted in the Enlightenment. All of the West benefited by that as did all of Europe. Those parts of the world that modeled themselves after it thrived as well. Atheism + Feminism = collapse. The United States never carried debt until women got the vote in 1920. Now we pay almost as much to service the debt as we pay on our military. Those chickens are going to come home to roost and I hope I'm dead and gone before that happens.

@marlonmoncrieffe0728 How exactly is the income tax responsible for an unbalanced budget? The Federal government was funded essentially on a beer and alcohol tax and they managed to keep it balanced, why would an increase in revenue cause reckless spending?
