According to Victor Davis Hansen the whole thing is burning down. He recently reported that the Ivy League Universities have lost their claim to excellence and businesses are aware of it. He stated that the reason Harvard and Yale graduates were prized wasn't so much that they had great educations, but because these Universities had extremely high standards and any student who could rise to that standard would be an outstanding employee for any company after graduation. Since their standards have been thrown in the toilet businesses no longer trust them and use other methods to sort the cream from the chaff.

@Danny Timms Not anymore, or at least not readily. What he said is that if the come from Ivy League Universities the businesses do their own vetting where before they'd just hire them. He said that smaller more conservative colleges are filling the gap that the Ivy League used to fill.
