It's Ronald Reagan's fault. Before Reagen became Governor of California nobody paid attention to celebrities, but Reagan was successful as Governor and became a damn good president. Suddenly after that people gave actors more credit than they were worth.

@jimclayson Before Reagan celebrities were the glitterati, people wanted to know where they were seen and with whom, what cigarettes they smoked, what beer, wine or hard liquor they drank, but nobody cared what their opinions were on politics.

@NEILANIL1 Were you alive then? I'm guessing you weren't and you've been reading your Howard Zinn or something similar. For those of us who lived it, Reagan was damn good president.

@applianceman6194 I take it you're young? Actually it was John Fitzgerald Kennedy who brought Hollywood into the White House. His brother in law was Peter Lawford who was a member of Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack. Sinatra campaigned for Kennedy and convinced the rest of the pack to do the same. Sinatra introduced Kennedy to Marylin Monroe who was a frequent but off the books guest of the White House, especially when Jackie wasn't around.

@howardrichburg2398 You may be right. I read an article where the Red Cross had tested blood samples that were taken as early as 2018 and some were postive for Covid 19.
