  1. I have an HP Prime calculator and it use micro usb. Not all micro usb cables are compatible and you need an HP cable. So, I bet apple will follow with the same idea and add a chip to their USB-C cable. If not, they will do a totally compliant USB-C cable and measure the length of the cable, either by measuring the impedance or the echo. They will find a way.
