That's the best and most efficient way to combat tribalism before it turns into racism: exposition. If you have the means, travel a lot so the kids can experience different cultures and more importantly, different people. A cheaper alternative is to visit places that are known for their abundance of specific ethnicity. So your kid can see and get used to them. Has to be done in early ages to be effective though, after 7, it's already late game. That will simply redefine his tribe characteristics. Later, you can introduce the idea of cultural difference (foundations should already be there) and morale (to be worked actively, even adults don't have a firm grasp on it!). Yes, that's some work there ^^
