Teachers CAN'T give their opinions. This is that way because teachers can impression kids. Teachers are authority figures. And the younger the pupils are, the graver it is.
You've hours of training to learn how to manage that part, even if you teach maths. Because students are curious and will inevitably ask you what you think about various subjects.
As you can't answer, you have to give an answer that broadens the student's view but does not permit the student to know where you stand.
The USA probably has that same policy, hence the back peddling of the teacher, "But that's not my opinion. It's their policy".
Teachers are not robots, so it's acceptable to have some slip-ups. But a slip-up is not putting down a student or actively promoting your ideals. A slip like inadvertently telling, "Let's share equally since it is how it should be."
And the training goes further. One of my peers wanted to be a bit poetic, so he said, "... and nature created ..." and was halted on the spot by our teacher. You can't even say that because it introduces mysticism by personificating nature.
