There is audience shifting, which happens because a viewer can't watch one show. So, if viewer A switch from show 1 to show 2, the difference in viewership between show 1 and show 2 increases by 2. Second, there is a "spread" happening. If you've 4 shows and 25% of the audience switch to the 5th show, then you've 100% of the average expected audience watching the new show. It's why you quickly get ridiculous ten fold viewership for new shows. The ring is not even hitting 2x.... So, it's at lost and should have been automatically canceled. What we are seeing is: Ideology : the show is a political tool Sunk cost fallacy: It did cost so much that amazon just run it in hope to recoup the cost, it's also a filler for their show bank.
