@meltedsnowman9637 Someone with a permanent disability can get $794 SSI and $204 SNAP. That's $998 (more than $1k, if they were a single parent). Yang was offering someone like that a whole $2 more a month (offering them less if they had kids), but then was adding a 10% tax on many things. "Luxury" items aren't categorized by cost. They're categorized by type of product. Their cheap flip phone, and cheap phone plan, would have a tax on them, just like an iPhone and the best smartphone plan. Their outing for a prepared meal at McDonalds would have a tax on it, just like the fanciest restaurant. Their dollar store Barbie knock off would have a tax, just like a top of the line collector Barbie. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Sent you guys an email stating he was a fraud, from day 1. I'm a Canadian who owned and operated a VAT registered business. A VAT is specifically designed to NOT tax businesses in order to avoid double taxation. Yang is either completely clueless, or completely dishonest, about major policies he wants to enact.

@w.iraheta3769 How a UBI is paid for matters. A VAT doesn't actually tax businesses. In fact, it's specifically designed not to. Giant corporations wouldn't have paid into Yang's UBI, and only received the benefit of extra trillions being spent, funneling money to the very top faster than ever before.

That came after Israelis forced Palestinians out of their homes, and attacked the mosque, where a protest was being organized. It was after that, that Hamas warned Israel to leave, or else, and Israel ignored them.

Ohio State ... that can't do math.

@inquisitive.lurker His proposal was a public option, that he argued would turn into universal coverage. Freaking Biden, and Obama before him, promoted a public option. It's not all that progressive a proposal, and LA county attempted just that. It hasn't gotten them anywhere close to universal coverage.

@inquisitive.lurker No other developed country, that I know of, has a public option. Private options are totally different things, if that's what you're thinking of.

@inquisitive.lurker How does Switzerland have a public option, if there is no option to opt out of basic coverage? There is optional supplemental coverage. Like I said, a public option and a private option aren't the same thing.

@inquisitive.lurker Eh? A public option is government coverage. It's just optional to sign up for it and pay into it. The NHS is pretty comprehensive.
