@selfishcapitalist3523 The US is, and always has been, a representative democracy, dumb dumb. "Democracy" and "republic" aren't mutually exclusive terms. Basically everything that's not a monarchy is a republic. The US government has both handed out free land to people and intervened to not let capitalists own other human beings, in the past. Its most popular, 3+ term, president was FDR, who most definitely wasn't some capitalist puritan. Just how far back do you want to revert to, exactly?
