  1.  Aaron Dickson  The Confederates were the majority racist white southern voters, who voted for pro slavery politicians. The majority racist white southern voters also voted in politicians that implemented Jim Crow laws. Two options ... either those majority racist white populations in the south magically up and became the least racist populations, or they simply started voting for a different party that pandered to their racism.
