And he was either completely ignorant, or completely dishonest, about how a VAT works ... who it actually taxes. A VAT is specifically designed to NOT tax businesses in order to avoid double taxation. Giant corporations would not have been paying for, or even paying partly for, his UBI, and would have only benefited from the extra trillions being spent. Yang would have had money flowing to the very top faster than ever before.

A VAT is specifically designed to NOT tax businesses in order to avoid double taxation (which would be f*cking worse anyway!!!). While Yang was claiming a VAT would force Amazon to pay its fair share in taxes, Amazon UK has tutorial pages on how a VAT doesn't end up taxing businesses. You're clearly a cultist who has no idea what they're talking about.

@estherc.5559 You are completely ignorant, and have no clue how a VAT actually works. Take being clueless as a compliment all you want. This is the basic VAT formula for businesses ... x = output VAT y = input VAT x - y = z If z > 0, then the business reclaims y from x and sends z to the government, having paid no tax in the end. If z < 0, then the business keeps all of x and can reclaim z from the government, having paid no tax in the end. Neither has the business paying any taxes.

@ubuu7 Yang initially didn't have his UBI stacking with anything. On his own, he thought it would be a great idea to have it even replace social security. It took input from others to have it stack with some things. And, if he's saying the funding for such and such program will end up partly paying for the UBI, then how will the program continue without funding? Either he will abolish the program, or he's lying about how his UBI will be paid for (maybe the later, since he was already lying about the VAT). Even if he let people currently on a program choose, I didn't hear him say new people could get on those programs. Not adding any new people would have the program die off. Kind of ironic, that one of the first things he would have done was automate away numerous government jobs, with an automatic monthly deposit.

@ubuu7 Taking feedback is fine. That doesn't change the fact that Yang, himself, wanted to replace absolutely everything ... he wanted to completely abolish all those government programs. If he didn't argue it, then you're dishonestly inventing an argument for him. He constantly argued how to fund things, which means he wasn't simply not arguing that "secret" ... he was outright arguing something completely different from that. Either you're a blatant liar, or he is ... which is it? Yang repeatedly compared his dividend to the Alaskan dividend, which is entirely paid for by corporations. So, if Alaskans spent all of their dividend back on those corporations, the money will simply have circulated. Yang acknowledged giant corporations weren't paying their fair share of taxes through current methods, and then falsely argued they would through a VAT. So they wouldn't be paying for his dividend, either way. If corporations aren't paying for it, then the money is simply flowing from consumers to the corporations faster than ever before, where it gets hoarded. Instead of taxing Amazon, Yang would have made Amazon extra tens of billions a year, and Bezos extra billions a year. You're the dimwit cultists who can't even do basic math, like you claim.

@estherc.5559 If he planned for the entire budget of certain programs to end up partly funding UBI then, yes, he planned to end those programs. You can't pay employees to run those programs with zero funding. Or was he lying about how much of the current funding would end up paying for UBI, like he was lying about who a VAT actually taxes?
