Again, it was a solid argument, for social media, which doesn't create its own content, and to point out that, if they want an actual public square, then it needs to be publicly owned. The argument does not apply to media that creates its own content. That's a whole other monster. There are all kinds of regulations for creating content ... language on certain airwaves at certain times, nudity, violence, etc., etc., etc. And, there used to be regulations for news being more unbiased. There's no such thing as "free speech" on someone else's property, because you don't have a right to be on their property, to begin with. @hylomorpher 1. Privatized "public utilities" are not progressive. That's one of the ways you end up with taxpayers subsidizing for profit companies, and billionaires. 2. No leftist was f*cking "promoting it", as a good thing. It was pointing out the negative side of private ownership, to those that have been actually promoting it, for decades. Nobody learned anything from the first Iraq war, when a PR firm made up a story ... to sell intervention to congress ... about Iraqis dumping babies out of incubators, and taking the incubators. The star witness, claiming to be a nurse who was at the scene, turned out to be the daughter of the Kuwait ambassador to the US. There ended up being no evidence that actually ever happened. Nor did they learn from the second Iraq war, and the WMD story.
