It's because Israel is connected to their Christian Armageddon fairy tale. They want Israel to take the mount, raze the mosque, and build a third temple, to bring about the second coming and end of times. Ironically, Israel is the first country that gets destroyed, so they are aiming for the destruction of Israel, and all its Jews. They're just taking a round about way.
