  1. You Dore knob. You missed a possibility between Pelosi getting enough votes and nobody getting enough votes. That possibility being that Pelosi doesn't get enough votes, but the threshold needed to win is lowered enough for McCarthy to get enough votes. If your 15 progressives simply abstained, that 15 plus the 1 unfilled seat, would lower the threshold needed to win down to 210. Pelosi could only get 209 of the 224 Dem votes, even if every other Dem voted for her. McCarthy would get 212, if every Rep voted for him. McCarthy would win.
