Yes. Democracy is just math, in the end. Look at Canada, with only 3 viable parties, where the NDP is basically like progressives split off from Democrats (Liberals). The Conservative party only has a popular majority in 2 provinces, and yet they can win the majority of seats in more provinces, and even federally. You need the right to split into multiple parties, as well, or you're just screwing yourself. I'd prefer seeing our Liberals and NDP unite, and never see Conservatives win, outside those 2 provinces, ever again.

That's where the fight for progressiveness should be, in the primaries. Vote for the most progressive Dem candidate. But, if they lose, don't stay home come general election, and vote blue. If your progressive actually wins the primary, you'd also want all the Dem voters, who voted against them in the primaries, to vote blue no matter who in the general ... or else they'll lose the general.

@Michaelcj-m2d Yeah, totally samesies, as today. You know there were some electoral reforms, between then, and now, right? Like, limiting the electoral college, and how electorals are divided, which benefits current Republicans. The most popular third party hasn't won a single seat in congress in its 50 year existence. The most popular progressive third party hasn't won a single seat in its 20 year existence. So similar to the Republicans in the 1800s.
