  1. What is that moron talking about? Lincoln was the most popular candidate. And, yes, it was a racist election, when the vast majority of black people couldn't vote, even if he wasn't personally racist. The electoral college has only mattered in 5 elections, and that wasn't one of them. Now, politicians don't have to campaign very hard in states they're guaranteed to win, or in states they're guaranteed to lose. The electoral college lets a handful of swing states decide who gets to be the president for everybody else.
