@JTuaim Chattel slaves had no rights, at all. They were owned for life. They were recorded as property, like cattle. They couldn't do anything without permission. They could be beaten, raped, tortured, or killed, whenever their master wanted. They could have their children ripped away and sold, whenever the master wanted. Comparing that to being a "slave" to your job, or even to doing a set amount of time in prison, is nonsensical.
