  1. She's talking about his VAT (GST here in Canada). A VAT is absolutely not a way to tax corporations like Amazon. The corporations would simply collect the tax, paid for by the consumer, and pass it along to the government. Yang is outright lying when he says it's a way to make them "pay their fair share".

Without a VAT: Amazon pockets $100 on a sale. With a VAT: Amazon collects $110, passes $10 to the government, and still pockets $100 on the sale.
