@bodhisattva3774 She started a new progressive PAC, and used it to back 20 other progressives against establishment backed candidates, helping to add a few more progressive votes to congress, and helping remove a few more corporate Dems. She was just campaigning for Nina Turner, trying to do it again. Her office has recently helped tens of thousands of her constituents with rent relief and disaster relief. She seems to be both helping her constituents and still fighting the establishment. But hey, she switched a symbolic vote from "nay" to "present", neither of which helps a bill pass ... the horror!

@bodhisattva3774 No it didn't help the bill pass. Who cares, they aren't the actual police. Yeah, she wants to remain in a majority party in a mid term that puts Democrats in danger of losing the house, and it's a fact that progressives don't have a chance in hell in some districts. I get it. You Dore knob types would prefer a republican majority, because that's what "real" progressives want.

@BT-ts4pb Capitol police is basically a security guard and bodyguard force. They don't take calls to go to people's residencies. They don't wander the streets enforcing all the laws. Plus, most of that bill was paying back expenses and for building security upgrades, and didn't even go to the capitol police. And, a "present" vote still doesn't much help a bill pass, unless it's really close.

@bodhisattva3774 Yet you don't seem to know anything about the final bill passed. Yeah, I said they're a bodyguard force, which has already included protecting prominent congressional representatives outside of DC. They're still not acting as actual cops.

@bodhisattva3774 Learn basic math. It is impossible to pass a bill without Manchin. There are zero extra votes to the left of the party, if you lose his vote. On the other hand, there is the entire Republican party to try and get extra votes from, if you lose votes on the left. It is entirely possible to pass a bill without AOC, or the squad, by making concessions to Republicans. That final capitol police bill actually passed 98-0 in the senate and 416-11 in the house.

@bodhisattva3774 Yes, their jurisdiction is threats to members of congress, just like the secret service's jurisdiction is threats to the president, and former presidents. You're making up crap, implying they have some broad scope, like either the FBI or CIA. Not funding police refers to local police, and hasn't really involved the FBI or CIA. I haven't heard of anyone calling to defund the secret service. You're really stretching your outrage to nonsensical proportions. And, you're apparently still clueless as to when the final bill was actually passed, what was in it, and what the vote count was.

I am, however, in favor of progressives being part of a majority party, and in favor of not going completely backwards under Republicans. Your grifting cult leader is the one who abandoned Nina Turner ... abandoned adding another M4A yes vote to congress ... abandoned trying to keep another corporate Dem out of office. The only thing they're authorized to do, outside of the capitol complex, is protecting members of congress. They have no jurisdiction over any other crimes, in the rest of the country. What is it you think they're going to do, exactly?

@bodhisattva3774 The final bill passed 418-11, and it only paid back the capitol police budget for the extra $70m it used. It paid back the national guard $521m. $300m went for security upgrades. $42.1m went to added covid protocols. And over $1b went for Afghan refugees. Both the capitol police and national guard had budget shortages, because of Jan 6, and the added security weeks after. There was going to be a bill passed, to fill those budget shortages. If the original bill hadn't passed the house, to be amended by the senate, the senate would simply have come up with their own bill. So, her first vote didn't really matter, because the senate would have introduced a bill anyway, and her no vote on the final bill didn't really matter, because it passed by a longshot. You're a total ignoramus, for repeatedly saying it's $2b for the capitol police. And, again, they aren't even like real cops. They aren't going to pull someone over for a taillight and then shoot them. They aren't going to choke someone out for selling smokes. They aren't going to be called to a swimming pool and toss young black girls around. Etc. They're more like the secret service, which has field offices around the country that still don't make them anything like normal cops.
