@kdemetter How do you feel about feudalism, which even appeared on the US' Western frontier, with cattle barons hiring private armies of cowboys, and throwing their weight around, with little to no government intervention? It was only government law, and enforcers of said laws, finally moving in, that ended conflicts between private citizens. Why do you pretend like private citizens can't coerse each other? There are, literally, blackmail and extortion laws, to stop private citizens from coercing each other, because they do.

@kdemetter Objectivists are equivalent to capital L Libertarians, when it comes to the government they want. Both want a minimalist government. The "libertarians" Rand was opposed to, at the time of her writing, referred to ancap types.

@johnkosowski3321 And if the building owner simply rents the units, owns an office building and leases out office space, a giant corporation runs their business out of the building and the hundreds using it are simply employees, etc.? When there used to be fewer building codes, etc., I don't recall banks and insurance companies requiring strict standards and inspections. Isn't that why the government stepped in, in the first place?

@johnkosowski3321 If you need, and get, a loan (which I never included, but you keep including, because it's the only way your system works it seems), you're still on the hook for paying off the loan, whether your venture is successful, or not. Banks don't require inspections for mortgages. They don't care if your new venture is risky, if you give them collateral, and already have the income to pay them back. There have also been numerous collapses during building itself. If there's no set standard, showing the builder cut corners, if no way is an outright wrong way to do things, then there's no real grounds to sue them for damages.

@johnkosowski3321 Rofl. Do you just ignore everything your argument can't cover? You're arguing against a history, a reality, in which people managed to get insurance when building standards were lower. You're arguing against a reality where buildings are still being built in countries where building standards are lower. There's zero evidence that capitalism is good at self regulation, hence the introduction of standards.

@johnkosowski3321 A barely existent Florida system failed, while banks and insurance companies didn't give a crap that there's a barely existent system in place. There's not even a 40 year required inspection in most Florida counties. Your banks and insurance companies haven't cared. You're pulling shit out of your ass.
