A law that equates some outer clothing to religious symbols is only going to have a major affect on certain people of other religions, like Muslim women, yamaka wearing Jews, and Sikhs.

The Canadian constitution guarantees the right to freedom of beliefs, and non beliefs. This is a provincial law, and challenges to it will likely work their way up to the Supreme Court.

@rickkwitkoski1976 Do they check people, to make sure they aren't wearing one under their shirt? Treating outerwear as equivalent to concealable jewelry, isn't actually samesies, and will affect people with certain religious beliefs far more than others.

@rickkwitkoski1976 Well, calling clothing "symbols", even though those articles of clothing don't have religious symbols on them, is only going to affect certain groups of people, like some female Muslims and Sikhs, while those with symbolic jewelery could easily just wear theirs under their shirt, carry it in a purse, pocket, or whatever. So, it's not a law that affects people of all religions uniformly.
