"Unions"? What a joke. As well as having high marginal tax rates in the 50s, the US was also 40% unionized in the early 50s. McCarthyism, the cold war, and decades of attacking and blaming unions has led to the US now being only 10% unionized. Becoming less unionized has only helped cause greater income inequality. Those unions also acted as counter lobbies to corporate lobbies, creating a more balanced lobbying system when it came to government. Now there's next to no counter balance to the corporate lobby, so they get what they want. Unions help create a strong middle class. Denmark is 70% unionized. They don't even need government to set a minimum wage, because the unions have negotiated a high average minimum, on their own. Blaming and destroying unions, in the US, has only made things worse.
