@timothydouglas7375 Why are people so obsessed with distance? They did intentionally firebomb the most populated areas of some cities, intentionally killing as many civilians as possible. Hell, they obliterated 2 cities in Japan. Pretty sure some would have had their heads blown off.

Depends. It would be hard to oppose both the WWII fascists, and the resistance groups (that the fascists called "terrorists") that fought them, sometimes hitting civilians (the allies as a whole bombed and killed a shit ton of civilians). I could say some of the stuff the resistance and allies did was overkill, even morally and strategically questionable, but I couldn't say I opposed them.

The left is opposed to colonialism, no? While I think Hamas' actions are morally, and strategically, wrong, it's hard to say they weren't expected. Almost no natives respond to colonialism like Ghandi. Ze'ev Jabotinsky recognized this fact, in 1923, when he fully acknowledged that Zionism is colonialism, and predicted exactly how the natives would react ... fight it to the bitter end. On top of the colonialism, Israel is also itself founded on terrorism, by groups like the Irgun and Lehi. Instead of condemning the actions of those terrorists, Israel elected terrorist leaders, like Menachem Begin, who led the Irgun and bombed the King David Hotel. Even further from condemning their own terrorism, Israel actually celebrates those terrorists. Israel has taught their neighbours that terrorism is a valid path to independence and statehood.

That's like asking what colonists in North America should have done, after a native attack against their years of colonialism. For one, stop the colonialism, ethnic cleansing, etc. Or ... keep wiping them out, until they lose all hope, and shove them onto little reserves?

Think you have things backwards. The people of Gaza are the ones in the WWII style fascist ghetto. Nazis considered all resistance groups to be "terrorists". Nazis considered the Warsaw ghetto uprising to be the act of extremists.

Since Israel has killed magnitudes more civilians, including children, then what does that count as?

@llatew7126 But it's the Jewish people that suffered oppression, then turned around and became resistance "terrorists" (Irgun & Lehi) and colonialists, ethnic cleansers and occupiers, fascists running open air ghettos, etc. They have become very much what they ran from. There came a point when Native American "savages" wanted to push the Europeans back into the sea, but they had pretty good reasons to feel that way. Not all resistance "extremists" will become themselves Hitler. Israel may be causing a cycle, but they're currently in the Hitler position. Palestinians are ironically in the Jewish position.
