The US had a pretty pathetic rate during much of the pandemic, as well as did the European countries that have had similar results to the US. And countries like S Korea, New Zealand, Australia, had incredibly high rates, testing hundreds of people per confirmed case. It's a pretty simple concept that, the broader your net, the better, and faster, you can find and isolate those who need to be isolated, and vastly reduce the spread.
