Whether, or not, it originally came from a lab doesn't change the fact that the US, and other countries, botched their response to it. That it has passed from humans to other animals, like minks, and back again, is evidence it very well could have simply originated with an animal to human infection.

@gizroc Nonsense. Every other country in the world would have had the same misinformation, and yet not every country totally bungled their responses.

@gizroc How is it "opinion"? Countries like Vietnam, S Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, responded amazingly. Countries like Norway, Denmark, Canada, Germany, and others, responded decently to mediocrely. The US would have had 200+k fewer covid deaths, just responding in Canada's mediocre fashion.

@gizroc Viruses will pop up one way, or another. Being prepared, and how to respond to them, is as important, if not more important, than how exactly they start. Plenty of virus strains mutate with animals, like how the Kansas Flu mutated into the swine flu. China has the world's largest fur industry. @christopherdonahue1066 Blame China for what, exactly? A coronavirus was first recorded in chickens in the US, and first recorded in humans in the US and UK. Different strains have been first recorded in the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and the ME. 2 coronavirus strains, SARS and Covid 19, were first recorded in China. There are multiple different strains of the flu, that started in different countries. Are we going to assign blame to every country where a new virus, or new strain of a virus, appears? Or do you think they seriously messed up somehow?

@tjstarr2960 You will never be able to control what's going on in all the other countries' labs, or animal industries. Whichever way it came about, it was many countries lack of preparedness and slow responses that allowed it to become a pandemic.

@tjstarr2960 Neighbours of China managed to keep the virus under control without initial travel bans. They were better prepared and had faster responses. Political leaders should be prepared for a new virus to appear in their own countries anyways, and not be overreliant on travel restrictions from other countries.

@raymondblackpatriotcarter9299 Trump only banned foreigners, so it was a xenophobic ban, as if Americans couldn't just as easily be infected, and Biden wasn't in charge of anything at the time. He may have done something differently, with a pandemic response team that hadn't been fired under him. How effective was the Trump travel ban? Some countries that didn't ban travel immediately, but took other precautions, turned out better than the US.

Are you under the delusion that the US, and others, would have responded better, if only they had known of a better way? All evidence suggests otherwise. Hell, with all the evidence of different countries' response effectiveness, morons were still wanting to be like Sweden (top 25 for covid deaths per capita, 5-10x more deaths per capita than its neighbours), because they wanted to do as little as possible, not as much as possible.
