  1. The problem there is of you need medical assistance outside the state you're in. If your state has negated many costs, negotiated down drug prices, etc., then the taxes will be set for coverage at those state prices. They won't want to cover you, if you're visiting a state that is still using private coverage, and still has much higher costs. Another problem is that poorer states will have poorer healthcare. Costs are split between federal and provincial, here in Canada, and it's poorer provinces that drag down some of our healthcare stats.
